Managing Shift Patterns
Driver shift patterns are a core function of making sure the driver roster and automated scheduler is able to work efficiently.
Each driver can be allocated a shift pattern which represents the days they work, this is then reviewed by the roster system to automatically create loads when the driver is on shift. It is also used on the holiday planner to show accurate days a driver is taking off.
Creating a shift pattern
Before it can be allocated, a shift pattern needs to be created. We will create a standard 5-on, 2-off shift pattern for you when your account is set up.
To create a new shift pattern:
- Click Settings in the main menu
- Click Drivers
- At the top right, click Shift Patterns
- At the top right click Add Pattern
- Enter the Pattern name, pattern start and pattern length
tip: the pattern length should include any off days the pattern has
- If the pattern should ignore bank holidays, check the Employee works bank holidays box. (If a driver has them off as standard then this should be left unchecked)
- You will be given a list of days on the right hand side based on pattern length, for each day select if the driver will be days, nights or off.
- Click Create Pattern
Your new shift pattern can now be allocated to drivers. See the section below for how to set a shift pattern.
Allocating a shift pattern to a driver
Once you have created a shift pattern, you must then allocate it to a driver for it to take effect.
- Click Settings in the main menu
- Click Drivers
- Locate the driver you wish to amend, and click the view button (🔍) to open their profile
- Click the Roster Settings tab
- Click Set New Shift Pattern to begin linking
- In the new box that appears, select the Pattern you wish to give the driver
- Enter the Start Date of the pattern - the date the driver switched to this pattern
- Enter the day of the pattern the driver starts on under Which day of the pattern does the driver start on
Example: on a Monday - Friday pattern, where a driver starts on the Monday, the days would be 1, if they start on a Wednesday, the date would be the Monday, with day 3 being their start days)
- A preview of the first 2 weeks is shown below, once confirmed correct click Update Driver
