3. Planning (The Scheduler)

Part 3 of 8: Getting Started with TransMaS

This article is part of a series designed to take new users through the full lifecycle of an order.

In this article: We transition from order entry to operations, explaining how to use the Scheduler's drag-and-drop interface to assign work to drivers and confirm your daily plan for dispatch.

3. Planning the Work (The Scheduler)

Now that the order exists, it needs to be assigned to a driver or subcontractor. This will change its status to Allocated. The Scheduler, accessible either from the side bar menu or the button at the top of the screen, is the primary screen for day-to-day planning. The Scheduler provides a real-time view of unallocated orders (left) and active drivers (right) for a specific day.

3.1 Planning Basics: Drag and Drop

Look for the small circular icons in an order row:

  • Full Trip (Black Target): Drag this onto a driver's schedule to assign both the collection and the delivery.
  • Partial Trip (Red/Green Targets): Use the Red for collection only or the Green for just the delivery.Useful for splitting jobs across days or drivers.
  • Multi-Mode: Press M on your keyboard to select multiple orders and move them in a single action. (Multi-Mode on the Scheduler)

3.2 Drawing Down Contract Orders

For bulk hauliers, the bottom half of the scheduler acts as your "pool" of contract work. To plan a load, simply click the "handle" at the end of a contract row and drag it onto a driver’s schedule. This "draws down" an individual job from the master volume and automatically updates the remaining tonnage or balance.

3.3 Dispatch: Confirming the Plan

By default, any work you plan is in Draft mode. For a job to become visible on the Driver App, the schedule must be confirmed.

  • Confirm by driver from the scheduler screen: Right-click the specific schedule on the scheduler screen and select Confirm Schedule. This confirms all work assigned to that driver.

  • Confirm within an individual schedule: Click on a schedule to open its detail view so you can review everything assigned to that driver. From there you can confirm individual lines by right clicking and selecting Confirm Record, or use the Confirm All button in the button right.
  • Visual Status: Once confirmed, the schedule or load line will have a green bar at the start, indicating it has been pushed to the driver.
  • More details: Schedule Confirmation

3.4 Adjusting the Plan

Logistics is fluid, and you will often need to move jobs or change drivers after the initial plan is made.

  • Managing Schedules: You can easily move an entire day's work from one driver to another, change the vehicle assigned to a load, or adjust the start times.
  • Managing Allocated Jobs: If a specific job needs to be moved to a different day, removed from a driver, or re-ordered within their shift, you can do this directly from the scheduler or the load view.
